Tate, I may not have met you this year, but I think we became the closest this year. Thank you for bitch and rant nights and always knowing and understanding how I feel.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009?
Always kill with kindness—it always ends up with the best outcome, sometimes unexpectedly. Learning to open up more to others and just letting people in.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
“You know, it’s nothing new, bad news never had good timing. Then, circle of your friends will defend the silver lining. Pain throws your heart to the ground, love turns the whole thing around. No it won’t all go the way it should, but I know the heart of life is good.”
“The Heart of Life” by John Mayer

The entire song is just all too fitting.

culinary adventures: foreword

christmastime is my favorite time of year
mostly because of vacation, family, and food comas.

so, if any of you actually know me,
you know how much i enjoy cooking.
(and you probably know how much i
want one of those gorgeous bajillion
dollar kitchenaid stand mixers.)
(in red. cough.)

or how much i love going to sur le table
in santa monica or how depressed i get
when i’m in williams sonoma and can’t afford
to even buy a fucking cookie cutter.

anyway.

i decided that i am going post some
of the fun shit that i do / have done
on here. mostly just for myself, but hey,
maybe one of you will find it amusing?

"I burp and it taste like the soup."

my Lola is very pinay, so it is about
a million times funnier if she is actually saying it.

it sounds something like this:
“Aye berp und eet taste like de sop.”

I love hanging out with my grandma, haha.

Snap-happy orangutan clicks with Facebook
A 33-year-old furry photographer is winning fans on Facebook for pictures of her daily life as an orangutan in a Vienna zoo.
Orangutan Nonja’s photos, taken with a camera that dispenses raisins as she snaps, have won over 2000 fans on Facebook (now over 15,000 fans) since the zoo launched an online photo album on Tuesday.
I’m not a fan of much on Facebook but I will become a fan of this.

in all seriousness,

if journalism fails as a career, i am going to culinary school.

"He who angers you conquers you."

Elizabeth Kenny (via simtan) (via quote-book)

i am going to keep this in mind.

Flower-Gathering

I left you in the morning,
And in the morning glow,
You walked a way beside me
To make me sad to go.
Do you know me in the gloaming,
Gaunt and dusty gray with roaming?
Are you dumb because you know me not?
Or dumb because you know?
All for me? And not a question
For the faded flowers gay
That could take me from beside you
For the ages of a day?
They are yours and be the measure
Of their worth for you to treasure,
the measure of the little while
That I’ve been long away.

-Robert Frost
